My work is based around the things that people always wanted but don’t like to admit they could have ever been ‘foolish enough’ to try and achieve. The thoughts that remind them that they once had greater ambitions, amazing dreams, that in the middle of the night they would lie awake and smile to themselves as they imagined the things they would one day achieve. The same things they try to forget as they work from 9-5 with their noses pressed up against the screen, sipping coffee in their cubicle, bleary eyed. The things they try to forget while attempting to convince themselves that they are satisfied with who they are and what they have grown into being. My work is made of the shards of shattered dreams, the ballooning hopes of youth and the regrets of the aging and elderly. When you look at my work, think about the child in me that dreamed of it and the adult I am that warped it enough in order to make it fit onto a piece of paper. If you’ve made it this far, you’ve already done most of the hard part. The easy part is looking at my work. But the hardest part is thinking about it. If nothing else, I hope my art makes you think.
